Residential Child Care Staff

​Full Job Description

John K. Crosswell Home for Children is located on 28 acres in downtown Sumter and provides care for children 24/7 in a safe and secure Christian environment. Our three residential cottages include private rooms for up to 10 children, from birth to 21 years of age, family-style living rooms, and a kitchen and dining room. Our children attend church every Sunday.

 

We are always seeking experienced and compassionate residential staff for our on-campus cottages.

Job Summary:

Residential child care staff is responsible for the day-to-day guidance, care, nurturing, and supervision of up to 10 children living in a cottage setting. Staff must be available to children at all times in order to help meet the spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and educational needs of the children in their care. Staff will be met with a variety of challenges on a daily basis; the ability to think and act decisively is a must. Duties include direct supervision, crisis management, daily living support, pro social skill development, recreational activities, behavioral intervention, family interaction, child advocacy and participation in assessment and service planning.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years of age with a High School Diploma or equivalent AND at least one (1) year of childcare experience, preferably in a group setting. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in the Human Services field is preferred. Must be able to pass standard background checks including: pre-employment drug test, employment physical, FBI fingerprinting, SLED, DSS Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry. Must have a valid SC driver’s license and clean driving record. Must demonstrate the commitment, interest and desire to carry out the mission and goals of Crosswell Home for Children.
